INTRODUCTION

ERTSAR FIRE RESCUE

We are recognized and especially active in Indigenous and First Nations communities as well as to other municipal and emergency services depts as a Fire and Emergency Services and a Technical Rescue resource.  We have members of The International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Indigenous Fire Marshal Service.

ERTSAR FIREFIGHTERS

Our Fire Rescue Department is comprised of Fire Rescue and Medical Specialists as a non-geographic Fire Department. This means that we respond to any communities which need Fire Prevention and Protection services and outside of our 'area base.'

We also help and assist in the development of Fire Rescue services and response, and participate in extensive studies and research. We are also well known for supporting scientific and empirical testing services as well as collaborating with AHJs (Authority Having Jurisdictions) to study and develop capacity.

STRUCTURE FIRES

ERTSAR FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICE Operational Response provides a full Fire capacity to respond to 'at risk communities' in Structural Fire Rescue.

Virtually all Fire Rescue members will have, at a minimum Firefighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001) or equivalents and many will have Pumper Ops, DZ, HazMat, NFPA 1006 (various) etc.

WILDFIRE CAPACITY

ERTSAR FIRE RESCUE capacity includes bushland, wildfire / wildland fire and wildland urban interface (WUI, pronounced "woo-eee") standards.

Our Wildfire deployment and operations is known as Op Phoenix Eye.

TECH RESCUE

ERTSAR FIRE TECHNICAL RESCUE capacity is mainly provided from the greater ERTSAR C Squad for Specialist and Technical Rescue.

Technical Rescue disciplines are numerous but include and are not limited to Tech Rope Rescue, Water Rescue disciplines (Marine Unit), Collapsed Structure / Urban Search and Rescue, Confined Space, Wilderness SAR, etc.

OUR FIRE STANDARDS

OUR ERTSAR FIRE RESCUE standards are designed to meet or exceed the best international standards although we are compliant in many. Originally that was the UK and European Union (including EN 469 Fire PPE) but mostly it is the NFPA suite of standards for equipment, PPE, training, certification and operations.

MARINE UNIT

OUR ERTSAR FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES has a very comprehensive an capable Marine Unit which has boats and watercraft and members who are flood and swiftwater rescue technicians. We have an especially unique and special way of operating in floods and disasters which we teach others.

CBDRR

ERTSAR have taught Fire Prevention and Fire Protection to other countries as part of their Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction programs.

IFMS

ERTSAR: Gary Foo, Arnold Lazare of the National Indigenous Fire Safety Council (NIFSC) / Indigenous Fire Marshal Service (IFMS) and IFNA (Independent First Nations Alliance.) Although a distinct separate legal entity, ERTSAR has a Fire Rescue base in First Nations with the IFNA Tribal Council.
